NBC News Chairman Andy Lack was axed on Monday after calling out President Donald Trump's attacks on the media last week.
Lack, who has been chairman of NBC News and MSNBC for the past five years, is exiting as part of a reorganization at NBCUniversal.
In a press release obtained by the Wall Street Journal, NBC said Lack "has decided to step down and will transition out of the company at the end of the month."
Cesar Conde, who leads NBC's Spanish-language network Telemundo, will succeed him as chair of news assets, according to CNN.
Lack was previously expected to step down after the 2020 election season.
The 72-year-old's departure from the news network comes a week after he ripped Trump for his constant attacks on the media.
