MILK deliveries have made a big return to Britain’s doorsteps.
Milk & More, which controls just over half the UK market, signed up more online customers in the first eight months of this year than in the whole of 2019.
The delivery giant welcomed 85,000 new clients, with 33,000 signing up in a two-week period in March to April.
Last year, 75,000 consumers signed up to the service. At the height of the pandemic, visits to Milk & More’s website shot up by 300 per cent on pre-lockdown levels.
Glass bottled milk was the biggest seller, with more than 78 million pintas delivered between March and August.
But Müller, which runs Milk & More, admits struggling to fulfil orders.
Boss Patrick Müller said: “With sales tripling, we experienced unprecedented demand.”
Other products seeing big increases on rounds included cheese, yoghurts, fruit and veg plus eggs and bread.
There have been complaints on review websites about milkies not turning up, poor service and products going off.
But Mr Muller added: “The vast majority of customers are happy. We make 1.2 million deliveries every week and have a 99.9 per cent success rate.
“As we work to secure the future of the great British milkman, there will inevitably be bumps in the road.”
