Will Smith Gets New Fitness Show After Revealing He's In the 'Worst Shape' Ever

Will Smith is ready to put in the work to get back to his old shape. The Independence Day actor revealed over the weekend of April 30 that he’s in “the worst shape of [his] life,” sharing a photo to Instagram that exposed his belly. But he’s preparing to embark on a fitness journey that’ll be documented in his very own YouTube series.

What to know about Will Smith’s YouTube show

Smith told fans in a May 4 Instagram post that he’s ready to work on his fitness, explaining that while he loves his body, he wants to start to “feel” better.

“This is the body that carried me through an entire pandemic and countless days grazing thru the pantry,” he captioned the post, which included a full-body snapshot of him wearing just a pair of shorts. “I love this body, but I wanna FEEL better. No more midnight muffins…this is it!”

He continued, saying he’s partnered up with YouTube for a show that will document his efforts to reach his goal form. “Imma get in the BEST SHAPE OF MY LIFE!!!!! Teaming up with @YouTube to get my health & wellness back on track. Hope it works! 😬”

According to Entertainment Tonight, the show is a six-part docuseries called Best Shape of My Life and will focus on the Bright actor as he works to “improve every aspect of his fitness, from agility to power to recovery and more.”

Smith will also be joined by others such as professional athletes, medical professionals, and popular YouTubers. There’s no exact premiere date for Best Shape of My Life just yet, but it’s reportedly coming in 2022.

The post comes days after Will Smith revealed his current body

The news of his show comes mere days after Smith posted the photo of his current body. “I’m gonna be real wit yall – I’m in the worst shape of my life,” he captioned the photo, which shows Smith in a pair of shorts and a zip-up jacket with no shirt underneath.

The post generated more than six million likes, with fans sharing supportive and encouraging words to Smith in the comment section.

“You’re Will Smith! You can be in whatever shape you want,” read one comment.

“This is the most amazing post in the history of social media,” read another.

“Man! You have been in shape your whole life. Enjoy the dad bod with pride! Let’s end… the carbs discrimination,” said a third viewer.

Smith previously admitted on Red Table Talk that he also experienced a lot of weight gain after starring in 2019’s Aladdin. I was having the four or five muffins,” he explained on the show. “You know, Aladdin was successful, so I was like muffin, muffin, muffin.”

But once he started paying attention to his eating habits and eliminating certain foods, he was able to get back to his usual size.

Now, he’s going to try and do that once more. Be sure to check back in with us for updates on Best Shape of My Life as they become available.
