More madcap superhero adventures are on their way to Netflix as Hollywood star Elliot Page revealed season three of The Umbrella Academy is finally in production. Fan excitement reached its peak as a brand new logo teasing the sinister Sparrow Academy was unleashed on Twitter and Instagram ahead of the show’s return.
Elliot Page has confirmed The Umbrella Academy’s third season is currently in production with a new post on his social media accounts.
The first behind-the-scenes look at the new episodes revealed an ambiguous image of what could be the star’s personal chair for relaxing between takes.
His new post also revealed a new logo for season three, which featured The Umbrella Academy’s usual insignia adorned with the number ‘3’ and a bird resting on top.
The new emblem clearly refers to the ominous Sparrow Academy, a dark counterpart to the titular team of heroes who were introduced when the Hargreeves returned to an alternate timeline at the end of season two.
Elliot Page also shared the Instagram post on Twitter, and added the caption: “Omg we’re back again.”
The actor will be returning as Vanya Hargreeves, the most powerful member of the Academy who lost her memory after unleashing her powers at the end of the first season.
Page will be joined by series regulars Tom Hopper, David Castañeda, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Robert Sheehan and Aidan Gallagher as Vanya’s kooky siblings.
Plus, newcomers Justin Cornwell, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein, Genesis Rodriguez, Cazzie David and, returning as a new version of Ben Hargreeves, Justin H. Min, make up their new adversaries, the Sparrow Academy.

Finally, Colm Feore returns as the Academies’ mentor, Sir Reginald Hargreeves, while an ‘existential dread inducing psykronium cube’ is currently the only billing for the most mysterious member of the Sparrows, Christopher.
The Umbrella Academy’s season two was considered a marked improvement of the first instalment by a number of fans.
With last year’s cliffhanger teasing alternate realities and a roster of chilling new villains to come, season three looks like it will ramp up the weirdness even further.
Following the new update, fans voiced their excitement for the show’s impending return, which currently has yet to be given an official release date.

One fan said: “So excited to see the story continue!! So so glad it’s got you in it Elliot Page. I started watching the show just because you were in it!”
Another wrote: “Best wishes for you and the whole crew. Stay healthy and have fun.
“I can’t wait for season three to come. Huge fan of the show. Greetings from Germany.”
Netflix initially picked up the series for a third season back in November 2020, with filming officially starting on February 8.
The shoot is reportedly aiming to finish on September 1, so it’s likely the series won’t be returning to screens until early 2022.
Each season has taken around six months so far, though the second season didn’t surface until July last year, potentially due to complications caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Now, many popular series have been allowed to continue thanks to extensive health and safety measures, so subscribers are hoping for a shorter wait between new episodes this time round.
The Umbrella Academy season 2 is available to stream on Netflix.
