While Power might be finally over, there will be a four spin-off shows to keep Starz viewers hooked to the Power universe. They will be called Power Book II: Ghost, Power Book III: Raising Kanan, Power Book IV: Influence and Power Book V: Force. While four of the series will delve into what happened next, Power Book III is going to focus on the past. Express.co.uk takes a look at one theory that could explain what happened to Ghost’s dad.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Power.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan will be a prequel set in the 90s and will be about Kanan Stark’s (played by Curtis Jackson) childhood.

The series will also feature his friendships with a young Tommy Sikora (Ethan Cutkosky), James “Ghost” St Patrick (Chris Sumpter) and Angela Valdez (Camila Perez).

Fans will be able to see how Kanan became the top drug dealer in New York – and eventually Ghost’s enemy.

While the season will start off with the gang as teenagers, if Power Book III is given anymore series, it could eventually lead up to the point where Ghost and Tasha frame Kanan, sending him to prison for 10 years.

Did Breeze and Kanan kill Ghost’s dad? Creator drops hint

The prequel will primarily focus on Kanan, his childhood and his family’s drug business, but fans will also get to find out more about the other characters’ upbringing.

Both Ghost (Omari Hardwick) and Kanan looked up to Breeze, a drug kingpin and a mentor to the young pair – who Ghost ended up shooting dead.

Explaining why he did so to son Tariq St Patrick (Michael Rainey Jr), Ghost said: “I didn’t want to kill Breeze. I loved Breeze.

“I was your age when I killed him. I killed Breeze because he got in the way of my future.”

But could there have been another motive for murdering Breeze?

Ghost (Omari Hardwick) was brought up by his mother in his later teenage years as his father was said to have been killed by drug-dealing “kids”.

While his dad’s killers were never revealed in the original series of Power, there could be a further explanation in Power Book III: Raising Kanan.

One theory is that it was Breeze, with Kanan’s help, who killed Ghost’s dad, which, if he did know, could have been the reason why he wanted his mentor dead and Kanan in jail.

Creator Courtney Kemp has this week also hinted at the possibility to fans.

The Power creator took part in a live Instagram Q&A to give viewers the chance to also some all important questions.

When asked if Breeze and Kanan killed Ghost’s dad, Kemp replied: “I think that there is very much something there.

“I’m not going to say much more but @dmackmoney is thinking well – he’s thinking well.”

So could the killers of Ghost’s dad be revealed as Breeze and Kanan in Power Book III: Raising Kanan?

So far, no release dates have been announced for the Power spin-off series.

Kemp confirmed Power Book II: Ghost will be delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic but isn’t sure when it will be out.

She also said during the Q&A she hoped the series would be released by the end of the year if filming can soon get back up and running.

Power is available to watch on Netflix.
