Peaky Blinders fans were delighted when Alfie Solomons (played by Tom Hardy) was brought back from the dead in the season five finale. However, some are even predicting he could be returning as a new ally to Tommy Shelby (Cillian Murphy) in the upcoming season six.

Will Alfie Solomons and Tommy Shelby unite again?

In the season five finale, Tommy went down to Margate to see an old friend as it was revealed Alfie had survived being shot.

Tommy came to ask Alfie for his support in trying to take down Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin) at a Birmingham rally.

Alfie agreed with some stipulations in a scene which thrilled fans of the show thanks to the return of the Camden gangster.

As viewers will remember, it came after Alfie was seemingly shot dead by Tommy in the finale of season four.

Now given how Tommy’s plan failed and Mosley is still on the loose, some viewers have been wondering whether Alfie and Tommy could work together once again in season six.

Roomie-o posted on Reddit a theory about how Alfie could play a role in the upcoming outing.

They wrote: “We have fascists rising up and the resident Jewish kingpin would surely have strong feelings about it.

“If Mosley is working with Gina (and consequently Michael) then Alfie is one of the few allies Tommy has outside of the family, and in this case, he’s more likely to support Tommy on principle instead of money.

“I doubt Alfie will return in a large capacity in season six but he will have a presence that will be felt.”

Other viewers agreed, with Roborabbit37 adding: “As much as I was settled on his story arc being finished, I kinda hope there’s more to it than we currently have.”

While a third named Zeldazonkky wrote: “I’m excited to see what they could do with his character but I really hope it wasn’t a ‘waste’ to bring him back, meaning they don’t use him enough to have warranted his return.”

Well it seems like there could be some hope on the horizon based on what director Anthony Byrne teased on the Obsessed With Peaky Blinders podcast.

Speaking about his relationship with Tommy, Byrne was clear it was a special one on the show.

He said of the duo: “I think there’s a mutual respect there.

“He’s probably one of the few people who Tommy does have respect for and forgives his character.”

Then in an exciting addition, Mosley actor Sam Claflin also teased how he thought there could be a match-up with Alfie and his character in season six.

He said: “I remember one thing that Steven [Knight] did mention to me was the thought of this Jew hater and a Jew combining would be quite an interesting match up.

Claflin then went on to add: “But whether that ever happens I don’t know.”

While this is not confirmed, director Bryne added: “I feel like it should.”

Viewers will have to wait and see how this plays out when Peaky Blinders comes back once again.
