Maya Jama tipped to enter I’m A Celebrity jungle after quitting Radio 1 breakfast show

Maya Jama has been tipped to enter the I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! jungle after quitting her show on BBC Radio 1.

The 25 year old announced on Friday that she would be stepping down as presenter of the station's weekend breakfast show to pursue "exciting opportunities."

She joined the station in 2018 and revealed that her last show had already been broadcast earlier this month.

But after she denied reports she was heading towards the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom, it seems she may instead be headed for the outback.

John Hill from the bookmakers Coral says: "After announcing she is leaving BBC Radio One, Maya Jama is likely to be looking for some new challenges this year and one of those could be I'm A Celeb."

The bookies' currently have the stunning brunette at odds of 2/1 for appearing on the Ant & Dec fronted show, while still having her down at 3/1 as an option for Strictly.

They think Maya could headed for another ITV show also, however, and have slashed her odds to 9/2 for replacing Holly Willoughby as team captain on Celebrity Juice.

John added: "We think she would be a popular choice on Strictly, while we are not ruling out the presenter taking over from Holly Willoughby on Celebrity Juice."

Maya announced her news in a social media post on Friday, writing to her 1.6million Instagram followers: "I've made the very difficult decision not to continue my Radio 1 contract from June.

"As you know I have been juggling & There are a lot of exciting commitments happening that would mean I'm not able to dedicate the time needed to my weekly radio show.

"It's been a JOURNEY, Thanks to all you cuties that tuned into the show every weekend, it was so great to hear that we have been getting the largest proportion of under 35s tuning in for our on-demand show on BBC Sounds. So we are going out with a bang! Love youuuuu listeners."

A source told Mirror Online: "Maya ticks every box. She is young, beautiful, popular, bright, talented and has a big social media following.

"To get her this year would be a real coup. They have a six-figure fee on the table."

However, a representative for the star told OK! online she "isn't in discussion with Strictly" but is "flattered" by the reports.
