Movie week for Strictly Come Dancing kicked off with a bang on Saturday night and saw the contestants get into the character from their favourite movies. TV presenter Ellie Taylor and partner Johannes Radebe performed a Cha Cha Cha to The Shoop Shoop Song, where Ellie began the dance on her own. After receiving their judge’s comments, host Claudia Winkleman showed them a clip of a sweet message from Ellie’s sister which left Johannes in tears.
Claudia revealed to Ellie and Johannes: “To make you happy we have a message from your sister Shona.”
Ellie was left stunned and exclaimed: “Oh my! No!”
As the VT played, her sister proudly admitted: “Hi Ellie! Hello from Australia, we can’t begin to tell you how proud we are of you!
“Even though we are on the other side of the world we want you to know that we are with you every step of the way.
“We will see you at Christmas, hopefully with that Glitterball trophy in hand,” before her niece and nephew shouted: “We love you, auntie Ellie, go team jellie!”
Stunned at the beautiful message from her sister, Ellie shouted: “Oh my god, they have a dog!”
Noticing Johannes getting emotional, Claudia commented: “Do you know what, you looked really moved but JoJo, you are crying! And that is not your sister.”
Comforting him, Ellie revealed: “He is now! He is now!” Johannas added: “She said to me earlier ‘I don’t want to mess this one up’.
“And you didn’t. You didn’t.”
Craig Revel Horwood scored their performance a four, Motsi Mabuse awarded their dance a six, Shirley Ballas a five and Anton Du Beke another six, giving them a total of 21.
Loving Johannes’ response to the video and their dance, Twitter user @Brianwhitenose exclaimed: “I bloody love Johannes! #StrictlyComeDancing.”
Meghan Roxburgh added: “Johannes must be protected at all costs. He is a gem of a human being. #Strictly #StrictlyComeDancing.”
Chloe Broxworth cried: “I AM CRYING AT JOHANNES CRYING AT ELLIES SISTER! Stop it you amazing human being Johannes.”
@StrictlyFanClub commented: “Honestly, the dance may not have been the best but Johannes crying at Ellie’s sister has my vote. I love him so much!”
Shelly Kingsley said: “Can Johannes get any cuter? If he does I think I will cry myself, I bloody love him and his kind heart.” (sic)
Last week Ellie and Johannes performed the Paso Doble to Les Toreadors by Georges Bizet but failed to impress the judges and landed near the bottom of the leaderboard.
According to bookmakers Coral, Ellie Taylor’s odds of being the second person to be eliminated from the competition stand at 6/1.
On the top spot is Matt Goss with 9/4 odds, followed by Tony Adams at 11/4.
Loose Women presenter Kaye Adams lost out on the chance to perform in movie week as she was the first contestant to be eliminated from the show.
Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday from 6:30pm on BBC One.
