Joey Essex and Paul Carrick Brunson had secret off-air row on Celebs Go Dating

TOWIE regular Joey Essex was take aside by Paul Carrick Brunson during filming of Celebs Go Dating for a stern chat.

The love guru saw red after Joey referred to him as P-Dawg as well as using the phrase "fo sho" instead of "for sure".

Despite meaning nothing by either comment, Paul was far from impressed.

A source said: "It's fair to say that Paul didn't gel with Joey as well as the other contestants – not because of any personal animosity, but because Paul thought Joey wasn't taking the experiment seriously.

"By his own admission, Paul was finding the show difficult and was already uncomfortable prior to Joey's entrance with being constantly referred to as P-Dawg."

The insider added to The Sun Online: "At one point Joey misused some slang in front of Paul, who took him aside to explain why it could be seen as inappropriate."

Daily Star understand that Celebs Go Dating bosses agreed not to use any of the footage and the disagreement fizzled out.

Paul is one of the show's dating gurus alongside Anna Williamson.

A source to The Sun: "He meant absolutely no offence and became agitated about the prospect of being painted as something he's not.

"The fraught atmosphere led to the bigger confrontation Paul referenced online.

“The pair agreed to draw a line under the incident and move on. Paul's post has really stunned a lot of the people involved."

A rep for Celebs Go Dating and Joey Essex has been contacted for comment.

Earlier this week, Paul took to social media to announce the end of an era as he jetted back to the States.

Some fans took it to mean he was leaving the show for good but he has since clarified.

Paul wrote: "My social post referred only to the end of another great Celebs Go Dating series and my departure back to the States where I was very happy to be reunited with my family who I missed terribly.

I wasn’t announcing my departure from the show as some have interpreted it.

"I thoroughly enjoyed my time filming Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion and since returning to the US I’ve had lots of lovely messages from fans who have enjoyed watching the show and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of such a great team and series."
