Holly Willoughbys This Morning return date confirmed after co-stars exit

This Morning star Holly Willoughby's return date to the show has been confirmed.

The TV presenter will be back very soon but won't be alongside her usual co-host Phillip Schofield due to his shock exit.

Phil's departure was announced over the week and will take place with immediate effect.

This meant his last day of work was the previous Thursday, meaning he was leaving without any special goodbye episode.

However, Holly will remain on the show but is currently taking an early half-term break due to the shock of her co-star's exit.

Though journalist Camilla Tominey has confirmed that Holly will return soon in her news column, with her stating she will be back on the ITV show from June 5.

It has currently not been confirmed who will be replacing Phil on the show the host did release a statement over the weekend which went into further detail about his departure.

He wrote: "I have always been proud to cover fascinating stories on This Morning. But recently, the show itself has become the story. Throughout my career in TV – including the very difficult last few days – I have always done my best to be honourable and kind. I understand that ITV has decided the current situation can’t go on, and I want to do what I can to protect the show that I love," he said.

"So I have agreed to step down from This Morning with immediate effect, in the hope that the show can move forward to a bright future. I’d like to thank everyone who has supported me and I’ll see you all for the Soap Awards next month."

His long-term pal Holly also issued a statement where she explained how the role won't "be the same" without Phil.

She penned: "It’s been over 13 great years presenting This Morning with Phil and I want to take this opportunity to thank him for all of his knowledge, his experience and his humour. The sofa won’t feel the same without him."
