Former Hollyoaks and EastEnders boss is back as a writer

A former Hollyoaks and EastEnders boss has returned to the BBC One soap – this time working as a writer.

Bryan Kirkwood worked as an executive producer for EastEnders between 2010 and 2012.

Some of the storylines that aired during that time include Lucas faking Denise’s death and the hugely controversial story that saw Ronnie Mitchell swap her baby for Kat’s, allowing her to believe baby Tommy had died.

Bryan then moved to Hollyoaks, working in the same role, and departed in 2020.

He worked on the show when Mercedes’ court trial aired and when Lindsey Roscoe was revealed to be The Gloved Hand Killer.

He will be credited as a writer in an upcoming episode of EastEnders, set to air on April 25.

The episode will focus on Kat (Jessie Wallace), who’s shaken by the actions of one of Phil’s (Steve McFadden) associates.

Elsewhere, Linda (Kellie Bright) will try and prove herself following her return, and Chelsea (Zaraah Abrahams) and Whitney (Shona McGarty) face some money trouble.
