The Fantasia Film Festival is going virtual this year, and the first wave of programming has just been revealed. As is usually the case with Fantasia, it’s wild and eclectic, offering plenty of surprises, genre offerings, and more. Neil Marshall‘s The Reckoning is set to open the fest, which will take place online from August 20 through September 2, 2020.
While the fate of many of this year’s remaining film festivals remains up in the air, The Fantasia International Film, which traditionally is held in Montreal, Quebec, decided to be proactive and move online. The 24th edition of the fest will unfold virtually this year from August 20 through September 2, and the first wave of titles has been revealed.
As reported by THR, “The number of tickets sold for each film will vary by title or the wishes of filmmakers and will likely fall between 600 and 1,200 tickets per screening, similar to the seat capacities of Fantasia’s in-person Montreal event. Each screening will also be geo-restricted to Canada and tickets will be sold only to those with Canadian IP addresses.”
The first wave can be seen below. The second wave of Fantasia 2020 titles will be announced in July, and the full lineup will be revealed in early August, with ticket sales following. For more information, visit us on the web at www.fantasiafestival.com
