Davood Ghadami fury at BBC for killing Kush in EastEnders then cancelling Holby

Holby City fans have been left in shock following the medical drama’s surprise cancellation.

The long-running series, which has been a staple of BBC schedules since 1999, was axed in a shock move, it was announced this morning.

Fans have taken to social media in protest, with one even creating a petition in an effort to save the show.

Many have also voiced their anger and frustration due to Davood Ghadami’s recent casting in the medical series – and what its cancellation will mean for him.

The soap star, who audiences best know as lovable market trader Kush Kazemi in EastEnders, was recently written out of the Walford-based serial drama.

Fans branded Kush’s violent end ‘sickening’ and claimed EastEnders had made a big mistake in axing one of their most popular and well-known characters in such a horrific fashion.

Ahead of Davood’s final appearance in EastEnders, however, it was revealed that the actor had joined the cast of Holby City as new Consultant Cardiothoracic Surgeon Eli Ebrahimi.

Fans have been eagerly anticipating seeing the Strictly Come Dancing star in action in the medical drama, but news of its sudden cancellation has re-opened up the wound of his EastEnders exit for many.

Several fans took to social media to reiterate that EastEnders made a mistake in killing off Kush, reminding everyone that the character’s brutal demise means actor Davood can’t return to his former place of work.

‘Can’t belive they killed Kush on screen, gave Davood a role in Holby and then axe it,’ said one upset fan.

‘I’ve only had the privilege of being part of @BBCHolbyCity for a couple of months,’ the Kush Kazemi star wrote today on Twitter.

‘But its already very clear that its a great big family not a workplace.

‘It will be sorely missed. Lets go out with a bang #Holby’

A true gent.

Holby City will conclude in March 2022.
