WWE legend Mark Henry hopes to lure Braun Strowman to AEW after superstar's shock axe by Vince McMahon

MARK HENRY has confirmed that there is 'interest on both sides' in bringing Braun Strowman to AEW.

The WWE favourite was surprisingly axed by Vince McMahon's promotion after eight years with the company.

But their loss could soon be the AEW's gain.

Legendary wrestler turned talent scout Henry, 50, would love to bring Strowman over.

He told TMZ: "(It's) Super high on my list.

"It's not an all Mark Henry decision, but there's already interest on both sides."

"Hopefully by the time he's allowed to wrestle in August, I think the middle of August, then we could have a serious conversation about contractual things of that nature but right now there's interest on both sides.

"I love that dude."

Henry and Strowman are old pals that go way back, having known each other during their strongman days.

And now they could link up once again.

Henry continued: "I talked to him, I mentored him but I tell him all the time, I can't talk business.

"When your contract expires, you call and let me know and then we'll have a talk."

Strowman, real name Adam Scherr, has been delighting fans as his alter ego for years.

But with the WWE owning the Braun Strowman character, he may have to return with a different name if he signs for another promotion.

Strowman's stance appears to have taken a u-turn since a podcast appearance he made last year.

I told him a long time ago, the day I take my boots off from you, I'm done. And I mean that

He told Chasing Glory last October : "I've said it time and time again: the day I take my wrestling boots off for WWE is the day I stop wrestling.

"I will not wrestle for anyone else. I've been given an opportunity from Vince McMahon and from WWE at life that I would have never gotten [elsewhere].

"I told him a long time ago, the day I take my boots off from you, I'm done. And I mean that."
