Will big businesses give back JobKeeper payments?

Prominent Australian companies like Harvey Norman and car dealership group Eagers Automotive are facing pressure to return JobKeeper payments to the government, with critics saying they’re abusing the wage subsidy after posting large profits and paying dividends to shareholders.

Many sharemarket-listed businesses revealed the quantum of JobKeeper payments claimed over the recent half-year reporting season, with many pledging to repay the stipend after raking in better-than-expected profits.
