The Love Island contestants are quite frankly living the dream out in Majorca, spending an impressive two weeks on an all-expenses paid holiday lapping up Spanish sun, surrounded by stunningly attractive 20-somethings.

However, it's not all fun and games for the 2021 cast, as it's important to remember it is still a TV show, which means their time in the villa isn't as easy-breezy as it might seem to us here at home.

There are many things the show's producers keep secret from its fans, from banning the islanders from talking about their family to their very strict bedtimes.

Here's all you need to know about the Love Island stars' strict routines on the ITV2 dating show.

What time do the Love Island contestants go to sleep on the show?

Any loyal viewer of the show will know that all of the islanders go to sleep at the same time whilst in the villa.

This doesn't just happen by chance, as it'd be an absolute miracle for a whole house of people to all decide they'd all like to catch some Zs at the exact same time.

Arabella Chi, a contestant from season five, spoke to the Express about her time in the villa, and how shocked she was after finding out the strict sleeping schedule.

The star told the publication that the islanders were not allowed to go to bed early, in order to make the most of filming times and ensure the cast were all together in the evening.

She said: “What surprised me? How late you go to bed! Well, the time you think you go to bed, but it’s definitely late.

“You can try and work out the time but obviously we have no access to what time it is, you are able to kind of work it out.

When asked if you can take a nap at any time, she replied: “No, you can’t. There’s a bed time.”

What time do the islanders wake up on Love Island?

If the fact that all of the show's contestants are filmed wearing sunglasses as soon as the lights turn on in the morning isn't enough of a clue for you – they have a very early wake-up time.

Arabella confirmed that they are all expected to get out of bed "as soon as the lights turn on", calling it "horrible".

The Sun asked ITV what time the islanders went to bed and got up in the morning, and ITV stated that it "varies depending upon what has happened the night before".

This means if there was a late night as a result of a re-coupling, dumping or party the night before, they may be allowed more of a lie-in.

However, ex-islander Kady McDermott, who appeared on the show in 2016, revealed to Heat that the cast did have a set time for when they had to get up.

She said: “The days were very long, and the producers never let us sleep in past 9.30am – that wasn’t entertaining.

"They used to wake us up through speakers."
