Prince William And Kate Have This To Say About Meghan And Harry’s Oprah Interview

Rumors of strife between Britain’s royal brothers William and Harry have been swirling since  before Harry and Meghan officially took their leave of the rest of the royal family and moved stateside in early 2020 (via US Weekly). And now, the latest news from Buckingham Palace seems to be proving some of those rumors to be true. Harry and Meghan, who have been busy creating their own media empire of sorts since relocating to California, are set to sit down with Oprah Winfrey on March 7 for their first ever tell-all interview since announcing that they would not be returning to their duties as senior royals. The news of this impending interview is reportedly rubbing Prince William and Duchess Kate the wrong way.

“It’s just beyond the pale for William and Kate, especially in light of the dreadful timing with [Prince] Philip in the hospital,” an unnamed source close to the palace revealed to US Weekly. “They are utterly aghast.”

Prince William was already angry about Meghan and Harry's response to The Queen

While another source feels strongly that Harry and Meghan will not speak ill of William and Kate because “they don’t want to put any more fuel on that fire,” that doesn’t seem to be helping to alleviate the royal couple’s frustration with their younger brother and sister-in-law’s plans to speak so openly about their experiences and the goings-on of the royal family (via US Weekly).

This comes directly on the heels of reports that William was already upset with Harry for the way he and Meghan responded to the Queen’s public statement explaining Harry and Meghan would not be returning to their previous roles. In response, Harry and Meghan released an official statement saying, “As evidenced by their work over the past year, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the U.K. and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organizations they have represented regardless of official role. We can all live a life of service. Service is universal” (via In Style).

A source told The Sunday Times, William was “really sad and genuinely shocked” by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s response and their permanent relinquishing of their royal roles. The source said William and Kate found this public reply to The Queen “insulting and disrespectful.” Another source told the outlet, “You don’t answer the Queen back — it’s just not done.”
