Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, is ready to speak out and stand up for herself. With a new baby on the way and one year after Megxit, the Suits alum is set to have a sit-down interview with her good friend, Oprah Winfrey.
With so much happening in her life, including the scrutiny, racism, and sexism that she faced as a member of the British royal family, as well as a brand new life in her home state of California, Meghan seems happier than ever.
However, there have been whispers that this “tell-all” interview is just another paycheck for the duke and duchess who have already signed massive deals with Netflix and Spotify.
Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey will air on March 7
So much has been said about Meghan, who has mostly remained silent surrounding the circumstances that led to Megxit. Now, with news that she and Prince Harry are likely to be stripped of their remaining royal titles and patronages, the duchess is ready to tell her side of the story.
Oprah will interview Meghan and Prince Harry in a new special, Oprah with Meghan and Harry: A CBS Primetime Special.
“Winfrey will speak with Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in a wide-ranging interview, covering everything from stepping into life as a Royal, marriage, motherhood, philanthropic work to how she is handling life under intense public pressure,” CBS said in a statement. “Later, the two are joined by Prince Harry as they speak about their move to the United States and their future hopes and dreams for their expanding family.”
The British royal family is nervous about Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah
The 90-minute interview is said to be all-encompassing since Oprah is a dear friend to the Sussexes. “We’re told this is going to be a wide-ranging interview and that nothing is off-limits,” royal expert Katie Nicholl told Entertainment Tonight.
However, the British royal family, who was not informed about the interview, is said to be very apprehensive about what the duke and duchess might say, especially Meghan.
The Times reports that Buckingham Palace is extremely nervous about possible allegations of racism or sexism and the settling of “old scores.” However, they are aware that the Sussexes have no intention of hurting or slandering the royals, especially Queen Elizabeth II.
Is Meghan Markle getting paid for her Oprah interview?
As expected, many people are very upset about the impending interview, and many people are even accusing the Sussexes of just wanting to collect a paycheck. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth.
Page Six is reporting that the couple will not be taking any form of payment from the highly anticipated interview. They reported, “A spokeswoman for the Oprah Winfrey Network confirmed that the couple won’t be collecting a paycheck and said that no donations are being made to their charity.”
