The ‘God’s Plan’ hitmaker, who previously delayed the sixth album release due to his knee injury, refuses to mention the specific date when he will drop the album.
AceShowbiz –Drake is gearing up to drop “Certified Lover Boy”. Having delayed the release of his sixth album for several months, the “God’s Plan” hitmaker promised his devoted fans that it will arrive before the end of this summer.
The 34-year-old hip-hop star made the revelation in an interview at the Ultimate Rap League’s Night of Main Events XI (NOME XI) on Saturday, June 12. When one of the guests asked whether the album will come by the end of the summer, he replied, “Oh yeah, I’ll be there. My album will be out by then.”
“Certified Lover Boy”, which is the follow-up to his 2018 double album “Scorpion”, was initially set to be released in January this year. That month, however, Drake informed his fans via Instagram Story that he would postpone it to a later date because he suffered from a knee injury.
“I was planning to release my album this month but between surgery and rehab my energy has been dedicated to recovery,” the Canadian native penned at that time. “I’m blessed to be back on my feet feeling great and focused on the album, but CLB won’t be dropping in January. I’m looking forward to sharing it with you all in 2021. (sic)”
The last time Drake gave an update on the delayed record was back in March. When speaking on OVO Sound Radio, he teased that the album was “currently being chef’d in every way possible.” He then added, “I don’t have an exact date, but it’s in the pot and it’s coming soon.”
In the same month, the “In My Feelings” spitter released three songs on his brand new extended play “Scary Hours 2”. They included “Wants and Needs”, which featured a guest appearance from Lil Baby, “Lemon Pepper Freestyle” featuring Rick Ross as well as “What’s Next”.
