Boris Johnson and Joe Biden were seen walking into a meeting at Carbis Bay, Cornwall this afternoon. The G7 summit is being held from June 11 to June 13.

G7 leaders will come together this weekend for the first time in two years.

Leaders will meet from countries including the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the United States.

This year, the event will take place in Cornwall in the UK.

As they walked to their meeting, Boris and Joe were joined by wives Carrie Symonds and Jill Biden.

The four casually walked along the beach, however body language expert Judi James explained why this may have looked slightly “odd”.

She told Express.co.uk: “The walk along the beach pose does help to make the relationship between the two world leaders look comfortable and friendly although we do need to remember they have only just met for the first time, making the choreography of the ‘casual’ stroll look rather odd.”

The leaders were seen chatting with each other even while stuck closely to their partners, Judi continued.

She said: “The two men were attached to their wives here.

“Boris leans back to speak to Biden over his shoulder and even walks ahead with his new wife when he and Carrie should probably have been ushering and checking from the rear of the pose in the role of host.”

Inside, Johnson and Biden were seen sitting together ahead of their discussions.

Judi stated many of their body language signals suggested a desire to form a friendship.

“When the two men sit side-by-side there is clearly an attempt to signal instant rapport and even friendship by the use of shared humour,” she continued.

“Boris’s splayed hand and raised thumb suggest he is engaging the President in some amusing conversation and the President does reply with a wide, rictus-style grin that looks a little like an polite but over-performed, overkill signal.”

Judi claimed they are “very different”, with Johnson displaying “alpha power signals” while Biden looked more “elegant”.

She continued: “The intentional rituals suggest a desire to show bonding and friendly rapport between the two leaders although their body language clearly defines them as two very different characters.

“Boris sits splayed in his seat with his knees wide apart in an alpha power signal and his hand on his thigh.

“Biden’s pose is far more elegant and more than a little guarded, with his legs crossed and a notebook laid on his lap.

“Even in this short space of time there have been several power-play displays between the two men.

“Boris used the directive point and the more expansive hand gestures as they were walking to place himself in a more dominant-looking role while Biden’s hand clamp on Boris’s shoulder when they stood face-to-face talking looked like a rather old-school classic known as the power-pat, signaling what can look like a rather paternal sense of control.”
