Piers Morgan, 56, has been linked to GB News in recent weeks after he left Good Morning Britain following backlash over his Meghan Markle comments. Founder Andrew Neil, 73, has said it “would be nice” to have the presenter on board, but said nothing is certain as of yet.

The journalist shared an article on his Twitter page today, with the headline: “GB News’ @afneil says it ‘would be nice to have @piersmorgan’ join new channel.”

Reacting to the article, Piers wrote: “Always nice to be wanted!”

Many of his 7.9 million followers shared their thoughts on his post.

One commented: “@piersmorgan please please please, make this dismal year even better by joining!

“I need my fix in the mornings… can’t and won’t watch @GMB anymore! So excited for this new news channel!”

A second added: “That would make another reason not to watch it!”

A third penned: “Please do it Piers! I’ve missed you!”

Ahead of the launch of his new channel GB News, Andrew revealed he had “good discussions” with the ex Good Morning Britain host about joining his team.

He told Radio Times: “Yes, we have had conversations, but not about breakfast.”

The chairman went on to claim Piers had indicated that he doesn’t want to be a part of another early morning show.

“We continue to stay in touch and he knows that we feel that he would be a great addition to the line-up,” he added.

Speaking on This Morning today, Andrew said Piers will not be a part of the show’s launch on Sunday.

He added: “We’re still discussing Piers.

“The problem is, I hope your bosses are watching, this network is paying him far too much to do nothing so he doesn’t have to make up his mind.”

The broadcaster continued of his preparations: “It’s quite fraught as you can imagine in the middle of a pandemic but we’re getting there.

“We’re using lots of the latest new technology which will be great but as you know new technology doesn’t always work the first time around.”

Piers left Good Morning Britain after sparking over 57,000 Ofcom complaints.

He caused controversy after telling viewers he didn’t believe a word Meghan said in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Prince Harry’s wife said she felt suicidal during her time in the Royal Family and was denied help by Palace Officials.

She also alleged that an unnamed member of the firm had expressed concerns about their son Archie’s skin colour.

The father-of-four was the show’s main host alongside Susanna Reid.
