Comedian Jack Whitehall, 32, took a swipe at former ex Good Morning Britain star Piers Morgan, 56, during an appearance on the ITV breakfast show. The star of Netflix show Travels With My Father was on to discuss Stop Food Waste Day, but instead aimed a jibe at the former host, who he cited as ranting at politician Ann Widdecombe, 73, during his last appearance.

This is definitely a much nicer way to start my day

After host Adil Ray mentioned the comedian teaming up with a vodka brand for the campaign, he asked him to elaborate on the subject.

The presenter said: “Explain to us about food waste, so, we’ve got to look for food that -” he started before his co-host jumped in.

“No, explain to us about vodka!” Susanna Reid chirped enthusiastically.

Laughing at the duo, Jack went on to take an unexpected swipe at the outspoken media personality.

“What I first want to explain to you about is – thank you so much for that lead in,” he started.

“Andi Peters giving away a caravan on the set of Bridgerton is – that’s the way to start my day.”

However, the comedian went on to mention his previous appearance on the breakfast show, which he hinted he didn’t enjoy.

“Last time I was on I had five minutes of Piers shouting at Ann Widdicombe and that [Andi’s segment] was definitely a much nicer way to start my day,” he said, referencing the caravan giveaway.

As the two presenters promptly fell about laughing, Susanna put her head in her hands, shaking her head.

“Things have changed, things have changed,” said Adil.

Former GMB host Piers made the decision to leave the breakfast show in March following his remarks about Meghan Markle’s appearance on Oprah.

The ITV star said that he didn’t believe the Duchess of Sussex claims that she suffered mental health problems when she was in the UK.

Adil has replaced Piers for April while a permanent host is yet to be revealed.

However, it’s been reported that ITV bosses will be giving Richard Madeley a trial over the summer, hoping he will be a good replacement.

Since Piers left his role on Good Morning Britain, a whole roster of hosts have presented the show.

Sean Fletcher and Alex Beresford have all stepped in to host alongside Kate Garraway, Susanna and Charlotte Hawkins.

Ben Shephard has also presented more episodes alongside Susanna in the place of Piers.

An Express.co.uk poll revealed that more viewers are switching off than ever before from the ITV show.

A cancellation of the ITV news show wouldn’t come as a surprise to viewers as more than three-quarters of Express.co.uk readers think it should be pulled from the airwaves if the outspoken journalist isn’t going to return.

Good Morning Britain is on weekdays at 6am on ITV.
