Netflix debuted a brand new series on their streaming service tonight and everyone is talking about it.
The streaming service teamed up with acclaimed author Harlan Coben for the Polish series, which stars Grzegorz Damiecki, Agnieszka Grochowska, Wiktoria Filus and Hubert Miłkowski.
Set in two time spans, 1994 and 2019, The Woods tells the story of a Warsaw prosecutor, Pawel Kopiński (Damiecki), who is still grieving the loss of his sister from twenty five years ago – the night she walked into the woods at a summer camp and was never seen again.
But now, the discovery of a homicide victim – a boy who vanished along with Pawel’s sister – reveals evidence that links him to her disappearance.
As hope rises that his sister could still be alive, dangerous secrets from his family’s past threaten to tear apart everything that Pawel has been trying to hold together.

THE ENDING EXPLAINED…
As a chaperone for the summer camp, it was Pawel’s responsibility to be watching the teens so they kept out of trouble. However, he chose to go off with his girlfriend, Laura, that night instead.
Their getaway is cut short after they hear an ear-piercing scream from nearby and they scramble to put their clothes back on and race back to the campgrounds.
Now, it was revealed the scream belonged to Kamila, Pawel’s sister.
Over the past few weeks of camp, Kamila had become romantically involved with fellow campmate Daniel, while Pawel’s best friend Artur had done the same with a girl named Monika.
However, it was revealed by another chaperone named Wojtek, that Daniel and Monika had also been sleeping with each other the whole time. Both Kamila and Artur are upset, so Wojtek suggests a plan to get revenge on the two.
The plan is all about luring Monika and Daniel out to the lake for skinny dipping where there, Kamila and Artur would steal their clothes so they are forced to walk back naked.
However, the plan is foiled when Daniel and Monika start arguing with Kamila and Artur. Things get really heated between them all, with Kamila grabbing Monika’s throat and chokes her until she passes out.
Kamila is visibly worried if she did any real damage to Monika – but then Wojtek surprises all of them, and goes to cut Monika’s throat open before turning a knife on the three others.
While Artur has his own knife to fend off the disturbed chaperone, the three try to make their escape through the woods. After running in the direction Kamila and Daniel went, Artur hides behind a tree to hide from who he thinks is Wojtek sneaking up on him.
He jumps out from behind the tree and stabs the unidentified figure multiple times, only to discover that it is actually Daniel.
Artur finally finds where Kamila went, and she is waiting for him with both of their mothers. Hearing what happened, the two women decide they must protect their children from facing murder charges, sending them into hiding in the dead of night.
The bodies of Daniel and Monika are found the next morning and a police investigation holds Wojtek responsible for both murders, as well as the disappearances of Kamila and Artur (who remain missing, presumed dead).
So, is Kamila alive today?
Pawel’s mom didn’t tell anyone if Kamila survived that night and she never got the chance. His father heard that she had wanted to divorce him so he killed her and buried her body in the woods not far from where the other deaths occurred.
This also meant Kamila’s connection to her former life was completely lost. However, she stayed connected to Artur, who was hiding under a fake name.
Now, when Artur is found dead 25 years later, Pawel goes on to discover his sister could still actually be alive.
The final scenes of the show see Pawel walking the grounds of the nunnery in search of his sister, coming across a woman in the final shot to whom he says: “Kamila?”
So, is that Kamila? The camera cuts away before her face is actually shown.
