Gordon Ramsay shocks fans by killing and eating a swamp rat which he says is ‘delicious’

Gordon Ramsay has a TV show called Hell’s Kitchen, but to some a scene from his new show is far more hellish.

In a clip of his TV show on National Geographic, titled Gordon Ramsay: Uncharted, the famed TV chef can be seen to kill and then eat a swamp rat.

Yep, you read that right. In the episode recently shown on US TV, the 53 year old went to visit Louisiana, a southern state.

It was there that the star came into contact with a Nutria, which is a very large type off water rat that many know as a ‘straight-tailed beaver’.

The outspoken cooking guru met with a local named Eric Cook who used to be a marine but is now a chef. He explained to Gordon that the ecosystem was being destroyed by the rodents that were breeding all over the place.

As a result local residents had decided to try reduce their growing numbers by hunting and eating them.

Therefore Gordon was given the opportunity to shoot one of the Nutria, which he managed and then he pulled it out of the water describing it as "rat on steroids".

He said: "You can call this thing Nutria, water rabbit, but trust me, every bite, you're still eating a rat."

However, although he may have found it difficult to reconcile with the fact that he was munching on a rat, he still very much enjoyed the rodent stew offered to him by Eric.

Digging his spoon into the meaty concoction, he said: "That is delicious. That is delicious.

"It's like a rabbit, there's no fat in that…This is delicious, seriously."

Many on Twitter were shocked that he had eaten the dish, with one writing: "You are one brave man @GordonRamsay".

Another added: "i felt like throwing up :(, gordon, youre too brave!!!" [sic].
