Dixie Chicks Share New Song ‘Julianna, Calm Down’

The Dixie Chicks shared a new song, “Julianna, Calm Down,” a track off their upcoming eighth album, Gaslighter, via Instagram last Thursday.

“We hope it makes you feel empowered, smile, and strut the f*** around like you’ve got nothing to lose,” Dixie Chicks said in a statement. “We will strut through this time together.”

“Julianna, Calm Down,” which is named after Emily Strayer‘s daughter, asks women to look for inner strength while facing issues with relationships.

The lyrics of the song go like this: “Julianna, calm down / You know he’s about to leave but don’t panic / Don’t give him the satisfaction that you can’t handle it / Breathe / It’ll be okay.”

“Don’t give him the satisfaction that you can’t handle it/Breathe.
Put on your best shoes, and strut the f*** around like you’ve got nothing to lose.”

The group released the album’s lead single “Gaslighter” last month.
The album is the band’s first since the release of Taking the Long Way in 2016. The LP bagged five Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year.

The Dixie Chicks trio, Natalie Maines, Martie Maguire and Strayer, had originally planned to release the Gaslighter album on May 1. A new release date has not been announced as yet.

The song is now available via Amazon, Apple, Spotify and more.
