Olly Murs, 37, has candidly admitted he used to hold a deep admiration for Posh Spice. However, the singer did not tell David Beckham the extent of his adulation for her when they saw each other during Soccer Aid 2021.
Thanks to his career in the entertainment industry, Olly has been able to meet some of his favourite music icons.
He pointed out that, while he did not have any celebrity crushes, he was a huge fan of the Spice Girls superstar Victoria Beckham.
The singer even confessed he used to carry around a picture of her in his wallet.
He recounted: “I’m very lucky to have met, worked and become friends with some of my icons – Robbie Williams, Michael Buble & Sir Tom Jones. Robbie asked me to support him on his European Stadium Tour in 2013 which was a lot of fun, and being a practical joker I decided to dress up like Kylie Minogue in gold hotpants, full makeup/ wig, and surprise him in his dressing room.
“I was close to doing it on stage but I wasn’t quite sure how he’d react! Luckily he found it hilarious.
“I don’t have any current celebrity crushes, but I’ve said it before – I was a huge Posh Spice fan growing up, I even had a photo of her in my wallet!
“I didn’t reveal that to Beckham when I saw him at Soccer Aid though!”
It comes after the Troublemaker star sparked health concerns amongst his fans after the charity match by sharing plans to go “off the radar” in order to rest following a busy few days.
Taking to social media, he addressed his “mad” nine days, in which he also performed in several concerts.
It all came less than a month after having surgery on his knee, which meant he had not had much time off to recover post op.
At the start of August, the pop star revealed that he’d had a procedure on his left leg after a fragment of bone lodged itself behind his knee.
The incident happened as he jumped in the air during an earlier concert.
In last month’s social media update, the singer said his knee was in “absolute bits” after all the events.
In view of his 3.6 million Instagram followers, Olly said: “It’s been one mad nine or eight days – craziness. Weddings, tours and Soccer Aid. So off the radar for a few days.
“I’m resting up. My knee is in absolute bits,” he continued
“I’ve done too much. I think I need a rest.
“But thank you for all your lovely messages over the weekend from the tours to Soccer Aid, everything.
“It’s been incredible so thank you.”
Olly, who was captain of the England Soccer Aid team, was forced to leave the pitch after just 14 minutes due to issues with his knee.
He appeared to be in pain as he was replaced by rapper Aitch.
