The fight against the coronavirus in New York just got new weapons: glittering jewelry and luxury watches.
Throughout April and May, London Jewelers — the tri-state area’s top dealer of designer bling — is donating a portion of sales to buying meals from local restaurants for the courageous men and women working in New York-area hospitals.
Dubbed #LondonJewelersCares, the new initiative will supply hot meals to the intrepid staffs of North Shore University Hospital, Glen Cove Hospital, Long Island Jewish Medical Center, Mount Sinai hospital and NYU Medical Center.
“We are so grateful to our first responders and hospital staff risking their lives to take care of others,” says Scott Udell, co-vice president and a fourth-generation member of the London Jewelers family. “We thank them for their bravery and hope to bring them whatever comfort we can with a smile and a hot meal.”
The family-owned business — founded by Charles London on School Street in Glen Cove, Long Island, in 1926 — has already begun making food deliveries. They’re also offering health-care workers 20% discount on purchases (excluding some brands) on their website.
“As a small family-owned business, our goal is to treat everyone in our community like family,” says Randi Udell Alper, London Jewelers’ co-vice president. “We want our health-care workers to know they’re in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. We are here to show our appreciation and gratitude, and to give back to the communities that have supported London Jewelers for 94 years.”
